Prince Albert Pub Camden Wedding Photography
Fill The Frame
THE BREAKDOWN:
Wedding Location: Ceremony: Islington Town Hall, London. Reception: La Farola Cafe & The Prince Albert Pub, Camden, London
In Brief: Super Casual, relaxed London vibes for a pub and cafe reception in Camden (with a little Israeli-style dancing thrown into the mix!)
“In Photography, the background is never just the background”
One aspect of our photography that has, by now, long been established is our love of filling the frame. It’s something that comes originally from our long love of street photography, influenced undoubtedly by the greats like Alex Webb, Harry Gruyaert and Martin Parr. We love to fill a photograph with multiple stories across the width and height of the frame, paying attention not just to the foreground but the background as well to create layers of moments and characters within a single image. The aim is to find a sense of connection between each element of the photograph and allow you to enjoy a different part of the story each time you look at the picture. And for the bride and groom we want to include as many friends and family in a photograph as we can; telling the story not just of the events of the wedding day but of the people they shared it with. An unposed story of family and friendship that we hope to make worthy of a place on the wall alongside any portrait or group shot.
The technique is particularly useful when greeted with busy scenes full of life, interesting characters and stories, so it’s fair to say that for Eleanor & Philip’s wedding we found ourselves filling the frame quite a bit! Not only were we in the company of wonderful and fascinating people but, surrounded by the busy London life on the busy streets of Camden we had great fun “easter-egging” passing characters and cityscapes into the photographs too!
In short it was a wedding that perfectly suited our fill-the-frame approach. Starting with the wonderful chaos of the groom’s party getting ready on the street outside the ceremony venue of Islington Town Hall (when do you get an opportunity to capture such a lively and chaotic act?!), then on to the indoor/outdoor street life cafe feel at La Farola, before arriving at the main event at Camden’s Prince Albert Pub, where wild Israeli dancing and gloriously entertaining British pub scenes couldn’t help but fill the frame.
Below are just a few of our favourites from this relaxed and truly memorable day.
