In brief: A two day wedding set in two extraordinary venues, Cecil Sharp being a new favourite London wedding venue to shoot at – a playground of opportunities for two reportage photographers.

…and then in a blink of an eye wedding season was over!
We can’t believe it is already the middle of November! It has been all go for so many months lately that it is only now that we are having time to reflect on what has been, hand-on-heart, the very best wedding year we have ever had.
So why has it been so great? Well we had some incredible adventures; travelling to Japan, Budapest, Spain, Poland and Ireland to name but a few! All because our “job” took us there – something that we never could have imagined when we started our tiny local photography studio back in 2006! We’ve also had the opportunity to share our thoughts, ideas and Docu-Street style with so many photographers this year. Speaking at PV Social, The Residency, X-Weddings and Burn has been such a humbling experience, hearing the stories of how we have helped people find their photography path. We are so excited to also be scheduled to appear at The Rural in Barcelona and Boring in Warsaw in 2019 with plenty more talks and workshops in the pipeline!
But most importantly, it has been the couples…
We have been given the most amazing brides and grooms to work with this year. They have trusted us, connected with us and our images and given us carte-blanche to do what we love in the style that we love. One of the frequent questions asked in our Q&A sessions is “when do you get time to pursue your personal photography projects outside of weddings?” The answer really has been that every wedding is so creatively fulfilling for us right now that it feels to us just like a fun, personal project. When you love what you do as much as we do there’s no desire to go travelling until after the wedding season is complete.

We will be sharing so many wonderful weddings very soon so let’s get started with a huge favourite of the year; Rona and Maiuran’s two day wedding in London. The first day was a gorgeous Indian wedding set at Leyton Great Hall. A 6am(!) start time did nothing to deter us or our couple from enjoying every last second and even though it ended around lunchtime so much was packed in to it that it felt like a full day of stunning content. The second day was set at another incredible venue: Cecil Sharp House, a venue we had never photographed before and one that proved a perfect fit for our style of photography! One of our favourite venues of the year, the colourful backdrops and open spaces gave us ample opportunities for depth, levels and layering making it officially a York Place Studios playground of fun!
It was so difficult to cut this wedding down to blog size but after a few attempts we have managed it! So enjoy this double-day feast!
