London wedding photo & video: documentary style

Nothing posed, nothing staged.
The art of the street, the heart of your wedding

Documentary Wedding Photographers / London Street Photographers

We are London wedding photographers & videographers who don't believe in the boundaries of the genre. Our signature "Street-Style", unposed documentary approach was honed on the busy streets of London, finding art in everyday scenes and big moments in the smallest interactions.

For us, London wedding photography isn't about staged poses or traditional clichés; it’s about the candid, fast-paced energy that only this city provides.

Whether you’re planning a contemporary city wedding or an intimate London pub celebration, we capture the day exactly as it felt- nothing staged, nothing artificial, just pure London life.
Unposed Wedding Photography
CHOOSING OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS WAS THE EASIEST TASK WE HAD. WE BOTH AGREED WE DIDN’T WANT THE “CONVENTIONAL-PEOPLE-SMILING-TO-THE-CAMERA” KIND OF PICTURES, WE WANTED TO CAPTURE THE WEDDING, THE MOMENT, AS THEY WERE. OPENING HUNDREDS OF TABS REVEALED MORE AND MORE OF THE SAME UNTIL WE SAW YORK PLACE STUDIOS – IMMEDIATELY WE STOPPED AND SAID THIS IS IT. THE PHOTOS ON THEIR WEBSITE WERE SO MESMERISING, WE WANTED TO FRAME THEM WITHOUT KNOWING THE PEOPLE, AND THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL WEDDING PICTURES TO THE ART THEY BRING.

Why us?

What we do:

The Street Photography Instinct: We use the same instincts we’ve honed on the streets of London to capture your wedding. It’s about being fast, reactive, and finding “big stories” in small, unposed moments. Our goal is to make you look incredible by documenting the real energy of your day—without you ever feeling like you’re on a photoshoot.

The Real Connections: We look for the sub-plots—the shared laughter in a crowded London pub, the quiet glances, and the reactions you didn’t even realize were happening. We want to find the moments that tell you everything about the people you love and the atmosphere of the city around you.

Character over “Perfection”: We want the real version of your wedding, not a curated performance. Whether it’s the grit of an East London warehouse or the elegance of a city town hall, our photography is about capturing your true personality and the genuine character of the day, rather than a version of “perceived perfection”.

What We Don't Do (unless you ask us to):

We don’t interrupt: You should spend your day with your guests, not your photographers. We never break the flow of the day or stop you in your tracks to “get the shot.” Whether you’re walking between venues or hitting the dance floor, the best images happen when you’ve forgotten we’re even there.

No Staged Poses or Setups: We don’t do cheesy setups or “look at the camera and smile” prompts. We don’t arrive with a checklist of shots; instead, we react to the unique light, the architecture, and the spontaneous moments that happen in front of us in the most creative way possible.

No “Take Twos”: There’s no need to re-tie your tie or move to “better light.” We thrive in the fast-paced, often tricky lighting of London venues. We have the experience to capture the moment perfectly, exactly where and when it happens, so you can just get on with the party.

One team. One shared vision.
As a family collective, we move through the city with a quiet intensity to capture your day from the inside out. No clashing styles, no fighting for the shot—just your story, perfectly preserved.

How we work
At the core of our beliefs as photographers is the principle that your wedding should never feel like a photoshoot. We don't want to keep you from your guests, we don't want you to feel like you need to pose and smile for the camera or schedule when to tie your tie or worry about finding time for the next photograph. As far as you as a couple are concerned, our approach couldn't be more simple - we want you to just forget we're even there.

For us, of course, it's not quite as simple as that. Whilst you relax and enjoy your day we'll be using every second of nearly two decades of experience and working non-stop to create exciting compositions and uncover beautiful moments, whether they be emotional, comedic or simply revealing of some small aspect of personality. Our style relies on capturing unpredictable, spontaneous actions, but our approach, techniques and artistic expertise ensure that luck is taken out of the equation.

Whilst our experience and techniques guide us, our aim is never to recreate something we've done before. We love what we do because each time we take a photograph we're striving to create something that excites us every bit as much as we hope it will excite you. We don't try to take great "wedding photographs", we aim to take great photographs in general - images that would be interesting to someone who doesn't know the people in the frame or has no direct interest in weddings. And if someone outside of the wedding can feel a connection with the image then imagine how strong that feeling will be when the people in the photograph are the people that you know and love.

How we work
The City is Our Stage, Not a Film Set.

We bring the same street-photography instinct to our films that we do to our stills. In the vibrant, unpredictable energy of London, we don’t believe in "production"—we believe in presence. Our London wedding films are entirely unscripted; there are no staged walks, no manufactured moments, and no intrusive equipment. We navigate the city with a quiet, observant intensity, allowing you to stay fully immersed in your celebration while we capture the honest character of the day.

Portrait-Standard Precision in Every Frame We reject the idea that documentary film has to look accidental. We apply a portrait-standard level of craft to every moving frame, hunting for flattering light and sophisticated compositions in the middle of the urban flow. Whether it’s the industrial textures of an East London warehouse or the timeless elegance of a city town hall, we ensure you look amazing in motion, just as you are.

A Family Collective: Total Creative Cohesion The greatest benefit of our family collective is our shared "telepathy." In the fast-paced environment of a London wedding, our photographers and filmmakers move as one. There is no fighting for space or clashing styles—just a single, cohesive vision. This low-impact approach means half the footprint of a traditional two-team setup, but double the cinematic integrity.

Watch Dominique shooting London Street Photography in Fujifilm's X-E4 commercial
Here at York Place we love to work with companies and creatives that share our values of innovation and customer service. One company whose products we love and use every day are Fujifilm who we were proud to represent as official X-Photographers.

The Fujifilm team joined Dominique as she kept her skills sharp with some street photography using one of her favourite cameras - the Fujifilm X-E4. As Dominique explains in the video, taking street photography in interesting cities like London is how we practice between weddings and teach ourselves to look beyond the obvious moment to find hidden moments and opportunities.
Wedding photographs reach the finals of the London Street Photography Festival
We were extremely proud to have two of our wedding images be listed as finalists in the prestigious International London Street Photography Festival. As a street photography competition there is no category for weddings but the street inspiration of our photographs of life captured at weddings was clear for the judges to see.

We could not recommend Dom and Liam enough! We had the most amazing day and a huge amount of that was down to them being the best photographers ever! We absolutely loved having them photograph our day. They were so thoughtful, enthusiastic, subtle and just basically great fun to be around! It was like having a couple of friends there, which is exactly what we wanted.

London Wedding Photography: Frequently Asked Questions

This is one of our favorite parts of a London wedding. We don’t just meet you at the second location; wherever practical we travel with you and your guests. Whether it’s a walk through the streets, a trip on a red bus, or a black cab ride, some of the best documentary moments happen during these transitions. We stay reactive throughout the journey to capture the energy of the city as you move through it.

Because we work in a purely documentary style, we don’t work from a checklist. Lists tend to make photographers look at a piece of paper rather than the real moments happening in front of them. Our goal is to capture the unique, unscripted story of your day as it unfolds. However, we do always make time for a small number of formal family groups and some relaxed, unposed portraits of the two of you if you’d like them.

London is famous for its moody, atmospheric venues—from candlelit warehouses to subterranean bars. Our “Street Photography” background means we are experts at working with available light. We don’t use intrusive flash that kills the atmosphere; instead, we use high-end, fast lenses and our years of experience to capture the “vibe” of the room exactly as it felt, regardless of the lighting conditions.

Never. If you see us pointing a camera, keep doing exactly what you’re doing. Our films are 100% unscripted. We don’t ask for re-dos, we don’t stage “romantic walks,” and we don’t tell you where to look. We hunt for the character that’s already there.

Not at all. Because we are a family collective and work with a “low-impact” philosophy, our kit is minimal and mobile. We don’t use giant rigs or heavy lights that guests trip over. We move through a crowded London pub or a tight warehouse space just like another guest, capturing everything without ever being an obstacle.

While a cinematic wide shot of the skyline is beautiful, London’s airspace is some of the most restricted in the world. Many iconic areas are strict “no-fly zones.” More importantly, our “Presence Over Production” ethos means we prefer to stay close to the real human energy on the ground. If a location allows it and it fits the story, we can, but we never let a drone dictate the rhythm of your day.
