We love telling stories through photography. We love meeting our couples on the morning of one of the biggest days of their lives and spending the day exploring the way their wedding felt, not just the way it looked. We love immersing ourselves in the emotions and personalities of a wedding and trying to portray such an extraordinary thing through single snapshots of time. And we love it when it’s not just the bride and groom’s story that begins to emerge but someone else’s story entirely.
The minute we walked through the door at the Gore Hotel for Eve & Doug’s pre-wedding party the night before the big day, one little girl caught our eye, playing quietly with her doll whilst around her the party began to get into full swing. That little girl was to prove a key part of the wedding, acting as flower girl and watching on as two beautiful ceremonies (one African and one English) took place at the Hurlingham Club with some pretty extraordinary (and rather unique) entertainment taking place in the form of fire eaters and acrobats!
For us a wedding is not about formality, location or decoration, they are merely the footnotes. Nor is a wedding a tale of just two but of many. No story is complete without a subplot and so often it’s the minor characters who have the biggest part to play.
So here is the story of Eve, Doug and a little girl with a big heart.
