UNPOSED CANDID WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Controlling the Uncontrollable; the Potential of Spontaneity
THE BREAKDOWN:
Wedding Location: Hummanby, North Yorkshire
In Brief: Fun, relaxed, informal party vibes. Unposed and candid, embracing spontaneity.
Our long-term mantra for our photography has been “Stay in the Moment”, a phrase really built around two messages. The first is a reminder to us to keep in the moment and shoot through the scenes, staying present and only thinking of the moments and scenes in front of us, not what’s gone before. The other is a reminder for our brides and grooms (and ourselves!) to stay present in the day, not over-thinking life and just enjoying the world and the experience around us right now, not dwelling on the past or worrying about what comes next.
Our favourite parts of the wedding day are the spontaneous happenings that no one can predict, plan or imagine, and the mantra keeps in our minds the importance of going with the flow on a wedding day and just letting the chaos and unpredictability happen without interference or direction. We believe that our job is not just to exceed our couple’s expectations, it’s to exceed their imaginations and it is those spontaneous occurrences that give us the opportunity to try to surprise and delight our couples. These are the very same scenes that challenge and excite us too, finding ways to control the uncontrollable, embrace that chaos and harness the moments to create layered, story-filled, emotionally charged images.
Paula and Chris had a truly rock n’ roll outdoor wedding that fitted our mantra and approach perfectly. You never knew what was going to happen next in a day character-filled, energetic, wonderfully chaotic, funny and truly heartfelt. Bubble gun fights, cornfield antics, pink feather duster limbo dancing to a cardboard cut out of Noel Gallagher … there was always plenty to shoot with people just being people with an abundance of personality; just the way we like it.
Unposed. Candid. Real.
Connection, humour, life and atmosphere, just the way it felt to be there.
