Scarborough Winter Wedding, Crown Spa
The Scarborough winter wedding of Alison and Jamieson took place in many venues ending finally at the Crown Spa Hotel. The day started at the brides home where fun and laughter was the order of the day a wonderful family orientated occasion. It was all hands at the ready as young and old alike prepared themselves for the big day, hair was coiffured, ribbon laces tied and mascara applied. The families all met for the wedding ceremony of Alison and Jamieson at St Edwards the Confessors church, in Scarborough. After the photographs of the bridal party and guest leaving the church they were met with a surprise. It was all on board a colourful double – decker bus and a tour of the beautiful Scarborough scenery. No bus tour of Scarborough is incomplete without a quick stop off at the awesome ice cream parlour “The Harbour Bar” (they really do the most tasty ice creams!) this wedding was packed full of local Scarborough charm.
After the Harbour bar ice creams it was all on board the bus to the hotel, the Crown Spa Hotel is situated high above the South bay and provides an interesting ever changing landscape by day or night. Guests made there way into the comfort of the hotel ready to enjoy the wedding breakfast, speeches and the cutting of the cake. the night was rounded off with lots of music and dancing and a thoroughly good time was had by one and all!
We approach our photography as visual storytellers and try to keep posed shots to the bare minimum, preferring to concentrate on documenting the day as it truly happened. It is always difficult to express to our couples how this may feel so when we received this wonderful testimonial from Alison and Jamieson I thought we would share their thoughts:
With a husband-to-be who said “I don’t want anyone telling me what to do on my wedding day, photographers are always telling you when to smile, how to stand…Do we really have to have one?” It was a task trying to persuade him that photographs are the only tangible keepsake from the day. So I found someone he wouldn’t be able to refuse; beautiful photography, really natural. He eventually entertained the idea of having a photographer there on our big day. A ‘necessary evil’ was how he described wedding photographers. However, the big day came and he was the first to say how easy-going and not at all bossed-around he felt. Dominique and Liam made us feel really at ease. We received some great comments from our guests on how quick the (very few) group photos were and how they didn’t feel conscious or aware of photography happening. Our quirky requests were met with fun and professionalism. Nothing was too much trouble. We waited in anticipation for pictures of our big day. On receiving them we were extremely pleased. Husband likes them of himself (a first!) and I cannot stop looking at how Dominique and Liam have captured every little detail of our day. We could not be any happier and would highly recommend them.
