Family.
When choosing our favourite photographs from Faye and Mark’s wedding ‘family’ was the word that immediately came to mind. Photographing families is a privilege and not something we take for granted: the moments we share as a family are so intimate, so familiar, so sacred in our lives, and being invited to share in that family connection for the day is a truly extraordinary thing.
Whether photographing weddings, events or even street photography we’re always looking for moments that we connect with on a personal level; moments that we recognise from our own lives and, as a brother and sister team with family so close to our hearts, to us that affection and familiarity between people who’ve spent their whole lives together (and particularly the more recent additions to the family!) is always the most interesting, personal and rewarding thing to photograph. We love to explore the dynamics between family members or old friends; to find those unspoken idiosyncrasies that somehow tell us everything about them and their relationships and to see the little characteristics that remind us of the people closest to us too. After all, when we all look back on our lives it’s not entire years, months or even days that we will remember, it’s fleeting moments like these, and the moments spent together with family and friends are the most precious memories of all.
Faye, Mark and their family and friends were so much fun to be around and, in the setting of a beautifully relaxed wedding at the gorgeous Rockliffe Hall, really opened up and gave us a sense of what it is to be a part of their wonderful family.
