GUPPI & GAN // BLENHEIM PALACE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY BY DOM & LIAM
Truly one of the most incredible things about photographing weddings is the places we get to visit and the types of weddings we get to experience. We often discuss just how lucky we are that wedding photography gives us such amazing opportunities to travel across the UK and abroad and to find areas that we didn’t even know existed; it really is a gift that we appreciate so much! Last month on the blog we shared a wedding that was as unorthodox as can be and we absolutely loved it, but it’s not just the diversity of venue that we love but the diverse wedding styles, influences and cultures that we get to photograph. Back last June we found ourselves in not one but two rather extraordinary venues; Shri Venkateswara Temple in Birmingham for Guppi and Gan’s sensational Indian ceremony and then a day later the couple held their stylish civil ceremony in the majestic surrounds of Blenheim Palace, a venue that completely took our breath away with its beauty and grandeur!
Both wedding ceremonies took place on what turned out to be the two hottest days in June in the UK for a very long time (even the news was reporting on it!) The Indian ceremony started very early in the morning but it was already blistering hot as the guests gathered outside to await the arrival of the groom. The extraordinary traditional Indian style architecture of the temple was an incredible backdrop for the proceedings and we had a lot of fun utilising the surroundings with the wedding party to make pictures!
The following day at Blenheim Palace was an even grander affair, with a beautiful ceremony (and cheeky little flower girl trying to steal the limelight!) a lavish garden reception (complete, naturally, with a harpist to keep everyone entertained), some very emotional speeches and some amazing dancefloor moves from everyone involved! Most importantly though we got to see and photograph the lovely Guppi, Gan and all their friends and family laughing, having fun, shedding a happy tear or two and thoroughly enjoying two very special days. For us that’s what weddings are all about: photographing people just being people, making memories not just photographs and trying to capture an essence of who our couples are in our candid, inimitable style.
These are just a few of our favourites from both of these fantastic wedding days.
