Gallery Different Wedding Photography // Connor & David

Working to a bold, creative vision

A different kind of wedding day

1 day, 5 venues and every single detail was important. Connor & David had big plans for their wedding and an extraordinary vision for how they wanted to remember their day.

We often work with camera-shy couples, who choose us because they want to forget the camera’s there and just trust us to make great photographs from whatever happens in front of us. But whilst Connor & David certainly placed enormous trust in our ability to make beautiful images on the fly, camera-shy they were not.

The process of capturing this day was, in the most part, effectively the same approach we take to any wedding. With the exception of occasional bold, stylised portraits (which were equally important to the couple as our documentary photographs), we didn’t direct the action or place anyone in the scene, we simply created the strongest photographs we could from the scenario before us. The difference, though, was that David & Connor had no intention of forgetting we were there – they knew exactly where the camera was and had plenty of fun playing directly to it.

When you get to know these guys and understand that playful streak and incredible sense of style, the photographs become less about subtle observation and more a spontaneous collaboration – a dance between camera and subject that takes no heed of the line separating reportage from something altogether more stylised. When you know that the person in front of you is looking to create big, joyous moments from every scene you have to be ready for anything, but you also know that something is always coming. The world is a canvas and today we share the paint.

When a couple have such a fierce creative vision for their photographs there is simply no other way to showcase it but in full: the small, unobserved moments, the straight to camera moments, the portraits, the groups, the “well we did walk past the Moulin Rouge” moments.

David & Connor, it was an absolute blast.
