Create Don’t Recreate.
We are in our eleventh year of business and we are sure it comes as no surprise that by now we have frequently photographed the same venue more than once! Whilst for many couples having a photographer that knows their venue well is seen as a huge advantage, for us as documentary wedding photographers we’ve never really felt this to be the case. It is very easy in this scenario to become a bit lazy, to think you know the best angles and to automatically go to them; in other words to shoot the venues wedding and not the couples. This is a position we vehemently work against; we never want our couples to feel like they have seen something similar before or that their faces could almost have been photoshopped into a wedding we’ve previously shot. We want each wedding we capture to be a collection of photographs where each image is as unique as the couple themselves. We live in the moment, not chasing the ghosts of weddings past but finding the story and celebrating the personality of the people right in front of us. We strive to create, not recreate and we want our couples to look through their wedding photographs and truly be transported back to that moment in time; to laugh and cry and remember their day feeling every last moment of an extraordinary event in their lives.
Jess and Andy’s wedding at Rudding Park was quite frankly an absolute hoot and a half. Our bride has the most infectious laugh and smile you have ever seen and after three minutes in her company you can’t help but find yourself grinning from ear to ear. We pride ourselves on capturing the guests just as much as the bride and groom but in these two’s case it was almost impossible to pull the camera away from them: we joked that we could hire them as party crashers to bring the funk and laughter to every event – they just never stopped dancing!
