Candid, Characterful Coverage for Gastro-Pubs & Historic Inns

Pub Wedding Photography & Video by York Place Studios

The Ultimate Lock-In.
There is a unique energy to a pub wedding. It’s the hum of conversation at the bar, the clinking of glasses, and the feeling that you’ve packed your favourite people into your local for the ultimate lock-in. Whether it’s a stylish London gastro-pub or a historic countryside inn, these spaces are full of character, texture, and history.
But pubs are also often tight, busy, and dimly lit—an environment where we thrive. Our street-documentary style is perfectly suited to this intimacy. We don't need acres of space or perfect studio lighting; we use the crowd, the mirrors, and the ambient glow of the bar to create images that feel as lively as the party itself

Small Spaces, Big Atmosphere

Pub weddings are rarely about grand, sweeping vistas. They are about intimacy.

  • The Crowd: We love the challenge of a packed room. We get right in the mix, photographing from the inside out rather than standing on the edges with a zoom lens. This makes the viewer feel like they are standing at the bar with you.
  • The Light: Pubs are famous for their moody lighting. We embrace the shadows, the neon signs, and the warm tungsten glow, using fast lenses to capture the atmosphere without killing the vibe with flash.

Pub Wedding Informality and documentary photography & films - the perfect aesthetic blend.

A cornerstone of our approach to wedding photography & filming is the belief that weddings (and therefore the photographs) should fundamentally be full of fun. Your wedding is potentially the only day when you can gather all of those closest to you in the same room at the same time, and so to us having just an amazing time together should be right at the top of your agenda. So holding your wedding in the relaxed, familiar environment of a pub is a sure-fire way to get everyone truly in the mood to celebrate.
When we photograph and/or film a wedding we capture everything, but we're most excited by the informal parts of the occasion. We love to see people just being people; going about their ordinary business on an extraordinary day. We want your photos & film to remind you not just what people looked like but a little bit of their personalities - the tiny insights that truly remind you of your friendships. Because your wedding photographs and videos are not just a reminder of one incredible day, they're a memory of this time in your lives.

We could not recommend Dom and Liam enough! We had the most amazing day and a huge amount of that was down to them being the best photographers ever! We absolutely loved having them photograph our day. They were so thoughtful, enthusiastic, subtle and just basically great fun to be around! It was like having a couple of friends there, which is exactly what we wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not for us. In fact, we prefer it! The “cramped” feeling translates to energy and intimacy in photos. Technically, we use small, unobtrusive cameras and lenses designed for street photography, allowing us to move through a crowded bar easily without disrupting the flow.

We love the extra layer of life this brings. Random interactions with locals often make for the funniest and most memorable documentary shots. We are experts at framing shots to focus on your party while using the bustling background to add context and atmosphere.

We get creative! London pavements, a quiet corner of the bar, or an interesting brick wall outside can make for a much cooler backdrop than a standard lawn. We work with the environment you’ve chosen, finding urban or rustic textures that fit the vibe of your day.

Absolutely. Pubs often have complex lighting setups. We embrace these colours rather than neutralizing them. If there’s a red neon sign or a warm filament bulb, we use that light to shape the image, giving your photos a cinematic, “late-night” feel.

Always. Pub dancefloors are legendary—sweaty, energetic, and tightly packed. This is often where our best work happens. We get right into the middle of the action to capture the chaos and the joy up close.

Yes, frequently. We shoot many weddings in London venues like The Prince Albert, The Londesborough, and various Town Hall + Pub combinations. We know how to navigate the city and capture the journey between the ceremony and the pub as part of the story.
