From pretty much the moment we first pressed the shutter in front of a bride and groom our mantra has been that we don’t photograph weddings, we photograph people, and a person is much more than the actor they present to the world. That focus on people and personality over location and details has led to us photographing a hugely diverse range of wedding styles: something that we take great pride in and that always excites us the minute we see a new enquiry appear in our inbox.
No two weddings are ever remotely the same because the people are always different and we want to get into the depths of the character, the human behaviour and the little spontaneous moments that make up a person. When Beth and Tim asked us to be a part of their wedding at the Star Inn in Harome back in January though it set us a new challenge; not only was it a very intimate wedding (only 14 guests) but it was also all going to be set after dusk, with the ceremony and most of the reception lit only by candles. Low light shooting has been a speciality of ours since our beginnings (13 years and counting!) but we had never had the opportunity until then to capture a wedding in such exciting yet challenging circumstances and we relished the opportunity!
Being a part of such an intimate wedding really does make you feel like you are just one of the guests and at times we had to bite our tongue to stop ourselves joining in with some of the answers to the board games! Over the course of the day we got to know all Beth and Tim’s friends and family so well and learn just what a fantastic bunch they are and it was a real pleasure to capture everyone and try show not just what they look like but who they really are.
