York Place speaking events

The Ninedots Gathering

LONDON / LEEDS
We were invited to photograph the inaugural Ninedots Gathering back in 2016, and have since spoken at the event multiple times as well as offering a live critique. During lockdown we also produced an expansive photography webinar for Ninedots and another on videography as part of the Ninedots "Motion" event.

Doc Day

DUBLIN, IRELAND
We have twice spoken at the incredible Doc Day Conference - one of the biggest (and best!) wedding photography conferences, centred entirely around documentary style photography.

Transversal

BRITTANY, FRANCE
We delivered two full-day masterclasses at the brilliant "Transversal" workshop at Château de Beaussais in Brittany, France (translated for French speakers)

Transversal is an eclectic 4 day wedding photography event, combining masterclasses with conference style speakers, short workshops and networking opportunities.

BODAF

BARCELONA
BODAF is the largest photographic festival in Europe and we were delighted to be invited to speak to a packed main-stage crowd in Barcelona about our photographic concepts and ideas.

The York Place Masterclass

INTERNATIONAL
We have staged various one-off York Place masterclasses all around the world on the art of documentary photography. Recent masterclasses have included Dublin (Ireland) Oaxaca (Mexico) and Newcastle (UK)

The Photography & Video Show

BIRMINGHAM, UK
We have spoken multiple times at the UK's "The Photography & Video Show", including main stage talks on the "Behind the Lens" stage and photography & videography talks on the Fujifilm education stand. In 2024, at the invitation of Fujifilm we also exhibited our book "Is This Something?" at the event.

Limitless Workshop

DENSAPAR, BALI
Bali's Limitless Workshop was an incredible event bringing together wedding photographers from across Indonesia and all around the world. With a luxurious setting (and unbelievable food!) and opportunity for us to stage a practical photography session on a Densapar beach, Limitless was an incredible event to be a part of, bringing our full day masterclass to the event.

Boring Workshop

WARSAW / POLAND
We were honoured to headline "Boring Workshop" in Poland, speaking about our street-inspired documentary wedding photography approach.

It was especially exciting to see one of our images printed huge and mounted on the historic Teatr Studio.

The Rural Workshop

BARCELONA, SPAIN
The Rural took place next to a beach on the outskirts of Barcelona. As the only English photographers at a Spanish photography event, this was our first experience of being live-translated into Spanish. Brought over for our unique take on what wedding photography can look like, over two days at The Rural we offered both an inspirational talk and an extended workshop for the participants.

Residency of the South

SOMERSET / UK
After the success of the Residency of the North, we were invited back by our amazing print partners Digitalab to speak at their inaugural southern event, offering two different expansive workshops to the attendees on documentary photography.

Keep It Real

BERLIN, GERMANY
Keep It Real was where our journey as speakers began, delivering a documentary wedding photography talk to a packed cinema auditorium of German photographers. It was both one of the most nerve-wracking and ultimately rewarding experiences of our careers and an incredible event to be a part of.
We were delighted to talk to so many documentary wedding photography enthusiasts - an artform that, prior to Keep It Real, seemed to be somewhat lacking a voice in Germany.

Burn

BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND
Burn was a Northern Ireland photography event taking place over two days. On day one we offered an inspirational talk (with practical applications) and on day two we offered extended workshops to two separate groups to offer a more in-depth insight into how we think about and approach wedding photography.

Elevate

LONDON, UK
Elevate is a pre-season wedding photography conference which takes place every year at the Curzon cinema in London. We were delighted to take to the cinema stage to discuss our ideas and philosophies on photography.

Fujifilm School

London, Glasgow & Scarborough, UK
We have worked with Fujifilm on a number of workshops and events, including hosting workshops at our Scarborough studio and the House Of Photography in Covent Garden, London. We've also spoken multiple times for Fujifilm at The Photography & Video show in both photo & video capacities, and provided seminars and webinars for camera shops and Fujifilm retailers.

Origins Workshop

ONLINE, CZECH REPUBLIC
We worked with the Czech Republic's Origins workshop to create an online seminar on documentary wedding photography which was translated for a czech audience.

We have also hosted a live critique with Origins, where participants submitted their work for us to offer help and advice, applicable to the wider community.

X-Weddings

BATH, UK
We have spoken at two consecutive X-weddings conferences, first in a photography capacity and the second about videography.

X-Weddings is an event featuring speakers that use the Fujifilm X camera system, though it is open to all and not centred around the cameras themselves.

PV Social

LEEDS, UK
One of our first talks took place at PV Social - an event spawned from a group of leading UK wedding photographers, taking place in a warehouse setting in Leeds. With an intimate atmosphere and a focus on different individual styles of photography and how to practically implement those ideas into your own work, PV social was both a great learning experience and fantastic networking event.

Residency of the North

NEWCASTLE, UK
Hosted by our print partners, Digitalab, the Residency is an educational event and retreat for all forms of photography. We were delighted to be invited as one of the speakers on the field of wedding photography, offering an extended workshop on our approach.

"All the speakers and educators were amazing but my biggest inspiration without a doubt was York Place Studios. York Place Studios were my lightbulb and I’m left buzzing and ready to approach photography with a new set of eyes!"
