When the theme is Monty Python, the “chaos” is intentional, but the choreography is still a gift from the documentary gods. Standing on a patio turned into a surrealist sketch, the goal was to capture the intersection of a very serious toddler and a very ridiculous “Cat Confusion” zone. This image is a study in “The Art of the Absurd” – where the props are planned, but the candid reactions are pure gold.

Liam: “I was watching the curiosity of our sharp-dressed guest in the foreground, whose expression perfectly captured the ‘And Now for Something Completely Different’ vibe of the day. Documentary photography is all about finding the truth within a theme, and I simply couldn’t ignore the surreal scene unfolding in the layers behind him. It’s that fun, split-second where a Monty Python-inspired prank meets a child’s genuine wonder, and the geometry of the frame just happens to fall into place. When the toddler leaned into the lens at the exact moment the ‘confused’ cat sat motionless in the background, the worlds aligned. It is the split-second where the planned and the unplanned collide to create a story that is as silly as it is cinematic.”
