Layered, humorous, light-hearted, colourful, passionate and witty images are what we strive to take and we absolutely love going to each and every wedding to capture all the memories for our brides and grooms, their friends and their families.
We are also incredibly flattered and fortunate that we get asked to talk all around the world about our photography and why it resonates with people. Recently we were asked to do a Facebook Live for This is Reportage and one of the questions that was asked was “when we can’t layer, what do we do?” Layering is an important aspect of our work but it is merely the dressing – the most important thing for us is concentrating on the people. Human interactions, the tiny stories that play out on a wedding, the little moments between people are what we strive to capture; layering for us only works if there is more to the scene than just a pretty image or complex composition; it needs something more. Some kind of spontaneity, laughter, a hug, some sort of spark – a human element that makes us feel or understand something is always the goal for us.
Really diving into a wedding and feeling that we’re a part of the day really helps with this and Lindsey and Seb and all their friends and family went out of the way to ensure we felt absolutely included in their celebrations. We actually knew a large part of the guests already as we had photographed two of their best friends Oli and Jo in York at The Normans as well back in November 2017 so it was really great to see everyone again and capture the events first at the York Registry Office, Bootham and then 129 Gibson’s, Micklegate for a gigantic party! We had remembered that these guys loved to party and they did not disappoint! First colourful scarfs were swung around, then people – swinging in circles, dancing, moving and partying so hard we couldn’t see the night ever coming to a close! Even Dom soon found herself being picked up by a guest and hoisted into the air to join the party!
We absolutely loved being a part of this incredible York wedding, everyone was absolute rock and roll superstars.
