There is something about a pub wedding that seems to bring out the real personalities of everyone in attendance. Maybe it’s the roaring fire and the ancient beams and the low light and rustic furnishings or just the relaxed, informal feel of a place we typically go to not for formality but for sharing jokes, telling stories and winding down with a drink. As readers of our blog will well know we love a good character at a wedding; people just being people and showing their true feelings and emotions on the wedding day is what we thrive on. We love to capture weddings where, to quote our favourite sitcom Seinfeld “It’s a show about nothing”: no big event, no grand entrance, just people spending time chatting, playing and laughing. In other words people being completely themselves, not worrying about when the next big set-piece on the wedding schedule is coming, just really enjoying the bits in between.
At Rebecca and John’s wedding at the Appletreewick Craven Arms the gorgeous couple made sure there was time for just that. The children had their own teepee to play games and build forts, the adults had space to share stories in either the outside garden or the old rustic pub and their gorgeous black labradors roamed between, seizing their chances to steal little titbits of yummy canapés from unsuspecting diners! It really gave us time to dig deep into the characters to try and find true, honest moments between people that revealed more of themselves then simply a snapshot.
It was an honour to capture such a heartfelt and beautiful wedding. Here are just a few of our favourites, as always focussing on the people rather than places.
