Target Practice
As documentary photographers, we’re always scanning the periphery for those moments that feel a bit “off-script.” Finding the Groom standing next to a hay bale while an instructor pins a cardboard version of his own face to it is exactly that kind of gold.
There’s a brilliant, surreal comedy to the whole setup – the sharp black tie against the green mesh, the primary yellows, and the pure absurdity of having your own face serve as the bullseye for your guests’ archery practice. It’s the kind of unfiltered, tongue-in-cheek fun that happens when a couple leans into the chaos of the day.
We’re always looking for the “shot” of the wedding, but it’s not often the shot is literally pinned to a target looking back at us.
