WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS SCARBOROUGH

Nothing posed, nothing staged, just real moments.

Scarborough Wedding Photographers | World-Class Documentary Style, Born on the Coast

Named after the quiet Scarborough street where our studio stands, York Place isn't just a business name—it's our home.

We are a modern family collective who have turned a local studio into one of the world's leading documentary wedding photography teams. Our unposed style was developed right here on the Yorkshire coast, inspired by the vibrant life of our seaside town.

While our work now takes us to weddings all over the world, our favourite place to shoot is still right here on our doorstep. We capture Scarborough weddings with a cinematic eye, celebrating the spirit of the town and the people who make it special—without a single cheesy pose in sight.

“The one concern I had when using these guys for our wedding in August this year was that our photos wouldn’t be as good as the ones on their website… but we needn’t have worried, a stunning collection has just been presented to us :) The essence of the day, our memories and the idiosyncratic moments of guests have all been preserved forever for us. If you are reading this and considering using them, fear not, they will be worth every penny.”

The 5 stars is not just for the photos, you could not meet more friendly, professional, accommodating, communicative and discreet people as Liam and Dom.

How we work
Our unposed, street-photography-inspired documentary wedding photography and videography style is all about celebrating real moments and capturing the fun, not just the romance, of a wedding day.

When you look back at your wedding photographs or videos we don’t want you to remember when you pretended to do something, we want to take you right back to that rare moment when everyone you know and love all descended on the same place at the same time to celebrate an extraordinary milestone in your lives.

So when it comes to your wedding day we won’t ask you to pose, we won’t ask you to stand a certain way or smile for the camera. We want to capture the real you, the real smiles, the real joy. Because for all the tradition around it, your wedding day is not really about formality or elegance, its about family, and as a family team ourselves, we know just how much that means.
Documentary Wedding Photography is about capturing the scene artistically but without interference. Every single photograph we take is captured with the same careful composition, creative eye and attention to detail as a posed portrait would be. The difference is that to capture them we move our own feet, not yours.

We want you to stay immersed in your wedding at all times. If you’d like a few posed group shots or portraits that’s not a problem, but what excites us is finding the joy and beauty in spontaneous moments. When you look at your photographs we want you to be taken back to that scene, lost in the moment and having the best day of your lives, never realising that your photograph was even being taken. Real moments, real personality, real joy. That is the beauty of documentary wedding photography.

There’s no words good enough to describe how brilliant York Place Studios were! We knew we didn’t want conventional wedding shots; we wanted everyone at our wedding to relax, enjoy the day and be themselves, and that included ourselves! Looking at Dom & Liam’s work online and then talking to them before booking confirmed for us that they were the right choice, and the service they provide is second-to-none. The pictures are beautiful, funny, and heartwarming, you can tell that this team care about the people they are photographing and the story they are telling. Their art is amazing. The moments they have caught of our friends, family and all our loved ones will stay with us forever!

Dom and Liam are the most genuine, sweet and talented artists who were a highlight of our January wedding.

We had a candlelit wedding, and knew that capturing the lighting was our main perogative, as well as the fact we wanted only candid photos. Dom and Liam expertly fitted into the tone of the wedding, being completely unnoticeable in the intimate church setting, but being friendly and getting on with all our guests at the same time.

The photos of the day speak for themselves. They are everything we asked for and more, each one is a piece of art in its own right

We are obsessed with our wedding photos!! We didn’t want a typical set of posed wedding photographs that we would never look at. We were hoping for wedding photos that could capture the feeling and energy of our wedding ... York Place Studios did an amazing job of capturing moment after moment in a way that tells a story through different perspectives, and takes you back to those moments every time you look at the photos.
