After over thirteen years of photographing weddings, you could be forgiven for wondering whether our love for the craft might be fading but nothing could be further from the truth. We, in fact, feel like we are just getting started and are more excited than ever about photographing weddings and creating images that we genuinely love. For us a wedding is a playground of possibilities, a chance to capture unposed candid images with real emotion, heart, humour and connection with the bride and groom and the people that matter the most to them in the whole world. How often do you have all your friends and family in one place at one time? It is priceless and deserves to be celebrated and captured.
When we were in Bali (back in August for The Limitless Workshop) we were both asked at the Q&A “what word best describes your work?” Independently we each answered Family and Connection. For us, there is nothing more important and if a photograph is a reflection of the photographer that takes it, connection will always be at the forefront of our work.
Hannah and Jamie’s wedding at the beautifully homely Leathley Village Hall was full of these precious moments: the connections between the people, the little interactions and the love shared by all. It was a true joy to photograph and full of unexpected beats… not least when the bride was kidnapped by her friends and hidden from the groom in a german custom that was both brand new to us and an unexpected highlight of the year!
