In Brief: A playful summer Cheshire Wedding photographed back in 2019 when the world of weddings looked a little different!
It would be a colossal understatement to say that the last year has not been the easiest. Everyone in the world has, in one way or another, been affected by the arrival of Covid19 and we have all had to learn to adapt and grow. We were so fortunate that, despite the disruption, we were able to photograph nine weddings last year – three before the pandemic truly hit (one by the skin of its teeth before lockdown!) and the remainder taking place under Covid restrictions.
One of our core beliefs as wedding photographers though has always been that we should 100% embrace and celebrate each event exactly the way it is. We don’t go into weddings with preconceptions in mind – we don’t need a busy dance floor, bustling crowd or busy schedule of activities; we don’t look for any set structure or big “key” events – we are simply the storytellers of each unique wedding that we photograph and the story of your wedding is never written until the final click of the shutter.
That philosophy has meant that photographing weddings of 15 people or less is actually nothing new to us – we can often be found photographing tiny weddings in pubs with a few friends or, in one or two cases, gatherings with no trace of traditional wedding structure until the moment the moment someone said “I do”. It’s not the event that shapes our photographs, it’s always the people within them, and that’s true whether there are 15 or 150 people in front of us. Weddings are not about traditions, elaborate venues, dancing or decoration, they’re about love, friendship, emotion and laughter. And wherever and however two people come together in marriage, those four things are always present in abundance.
But whilst we’ve loved photographing smaller weddings every bit as much as the larger events we of course can’t wait for everything to open up and get back to normal so that all of our couples, whether they want to keep things small or have the biggest, most elaborate party the world has ever seen, can hold their wedding exactly the way they dreamt of. With the vaccine distribution gathering speed we are hopeful that life returning to normal is within reach now and, with more and more couples now planning their summer 2021 wedding, it seems that optimism is spreading!
So whilst we look forward to the hopeful return of those bigger summer celebrations, today has us looking back to the summer of 2019 when we last fully experienced them. Camilla and Guy’s wedding was one of those highlights of the year: a perfect summer’s day with crowds of people laughing and enjoying themselves in the garden of the bride’s family home and a killer dance floor to top off the night.
We cannot wait for those moments to return and for the chance to enjoy the full variation of scale and style that makes weddings so unique to each couple and personality. In the meantime though we will be sharing our 2019 and 2020 highlights and reliving and loving every last second of some truly special days.
We hope you enjoy sharing them with us.
