The first wedding of the year certainly started with a bang for us at the stunning Broughton Hall! We had been looking forward to Sarah and Richard’s wedding from the very first email; they found us before they had even settled on their wedding venue so we had lots of fun helping them settle on their perfect venue from the other side of the world as our gorgeous bride and groom were based down under in Australia! It was our very first wedding at Broughton Hall and we absolutely loved it; Sarah and Richard had chosen to have a gorgeous church wedding a short drive down the road and follow it up with a reception in Broughton Hall’s beautiful “Eden” in a rustic teepee which so happened to be covered in a light frosting of white from an unexpected but very welcome flurry of snow!
It’s difficult to pick our favourite highlight from this wedding as so many incredible factors came into play; Sarah’s amazing wedding dress with two layers, the hilarious fun we had with the bridal party over at Utopia (another gorgeous area of Broughton Hall’s estate) and of course the rather unorganised but absolutely side-splitting antics of the groomsmen as they attempted to light the fireworks drunk (we had to duck out of the way for a few!)… it was all BRILLIANT!! However our favourite part of this amazing wedding just has to be the moment Sarah and a few of her friends (many of whom, over from Australia, had never even seen snow before) realised that it was snowing heavily outside and went out to take pictures! The joy and excitement was palpable, the kind of perfect magical snowy scene normally reserved only for Hollywood and a moment we could never forget.
Thanks so much to the fabulous Broughton Hall, the friends and family for making us so welcome and of course to Sarah and Richard who were amazing… and even offered that we could crash at Eden so we could avoid the snow. (In the end we didn’t need it but we so appreciated the offer!).
