Let’s face it, here in England we’re all a bit obsessed about the weather. We love to have a good chinwag about the past, present and future weather conditions and weddings are no different! We’re frequently asked about the weather and about any impact it will have on the photographs and our answer is always the same: the weather doesn’t make any difference, only your response to it will impact your day. We truly welcome any conditions (and in our ten years photographing weddings we reckon we have seen pretty much everything!), the weather is merely a character of the day and one we embrace wholeheartedly. We concentrate on composition, layers, emotion and story and like to focus on the things that make each wedding unique – sometimes it’s a little less-than-sunny weather that actually makes the image.
Rachel and Charlie’s wedding was a windy, rainy day and it was just brilliant. Our personal favourite photographs from the day are the ones with the guests making the journey from the church to the marquee; the chaotic, emotional, layered photographs just make our hearts sing and provide the perfect example of why we love shooting rainy-day weddings. The whole day was fantastic and it was such a joy to see so many of our past, present and future brides at the same wedding, it felt like hanging out with family.
Thanks to Rachel, Charlie and their amazing friends and family for allowing us to capture their memories and for simply getting stuck in with the weather and demonstrating so perfectly why sometimes rain can equal the greatest party of all.
