York Place Studios is based in the coastal town of Scarborough in North Yorkshire. The company has been operating since 1973 in the area of photography. In more recent times the company was acquired by Liam Shaw and Dominique Shaw from previous owner Richard Welford-Smith.
These studios are a compact, well-respected and long established business in the heart of Scarborough, whose expertise in portrait photography has gained them an international reputation that is second to none. A natural home for perfect portraits, a selection of established and aspiring celebrities have used the services of this studio for their promotional photography.
In more recent times the traditional elements have been preserved but a whole range of new services have been added. These include the following: Wedding Photography, Digital Imaging, Website Design, Video Production, Brand id and Marketing Services.
Photography Director/Owner
Dominique had previous experience as a freelance photographer prior to joining York Place Studios. She has a First Class Honours Degree in Photography, Video and Digital Imaging (B.A. Hons).
Dominique is skilled in creating vibrant, spontaneous images that capture personality and the characteristics of the individual.
Creative Director/Owner
Liam has vast experience in creating commercial designs for all types of media and has worked in various creative services including Websites (XHTML & CSS), Brand id, Graphic Design, Art Direction and Illustration. He has an innovative, individual and dynamic approach to all aspects of design.
Liam graduated from University with an Upper Second Class Honours Degree (B.A. Hons) in Interactive Multimedia.
